Do you feel uncomfortable around your chest and do your shoulders ache? If the answer is yes, it may not be the baby that's causing you this discomfort, it may be that you just aren't wearing the right bra!

Many women don't realise that it is not only their waistline that expands during pregnancy, your bust size is also likely to increase as much as two cup sizes!
Wearing the correct bra is the best thing you can do for your bust. A carefully chosen bra that fits you well will be more comfortable, will greatly enhance your appearance and can help prevent stretch marks.

What should I look for in a maternity bra?

During pregnancy, it is vital that you wear a well designed maternity bra that will not only support your breasts, but will also preserve your shape. When choosing your bra, you should look for the following features:

Support: Wide, firm elastic straps that eliminate 'bounce', together with wide sides and an underbust band which will give extra support.
Coverage: Greater coverage over the breast area which will provide increased comfort as your breasts become more sensitive.
Adjustability: A large number of back eyes will allow your bra to grow with you.
Comfort: A high cotton content as this will let your skin breathe and prevent irritation.

What should I look for in a nursing bra?

The ideal time to purchase your nursing bra is during your last month of pregnancy. A well designed nursing bra has all the features of a maternity bra plus:

Easy Access: The cups should open easily allowing for comfortable access for breast-feeding.
Support: When one cup is open for feeding the other should continue to provide support.
