Bras - Special Hints During Pregnancy

Changes in the breast size, along with increased sensitivity are one of the first signs of pregnancy. by the third trimester, the weight of the breast nearly doubles; the bra size can increase at least one band size and one to three cup sizes.

For maximum comfort, purchase a maternity bra as soon as your fashion bras are no longer comfortable. Bras made especially for pregnant women are usually more adjustable than fashion bras and offer more complete breast coverage for more comfortable support.

The legs of my panties are really binding

Q : The legs of my panties are really binding - I even get grooves along my thighs. What are my alternatives?

A: Legs should not cut or bind at the thigh.Verify you're wearing the right size with our fit guide. Then check how you're wearing your panty - are the leg openings arched evenly from side to side? Is the fabric skewed or bunched? If you're wearing the panty properly and it's still uncomfortable, try a hi cut style.

My panties keep riding up

Q : My panties keep riding up. I can't keep ducking into closets to tug them into place, so what can I do?

A: Get the right size! A proper fit means the panty is balanced and symmetrical, cupping the buttocks evenly. If you're tugging, check your proper size with our fit guide.

When is it time to replace my panties?

Q : When is it time to replace my panties?

A: It's probably time to throw out those panties if:

The leg bands or waistbands are stretched out.
If the panty constantly rides up or just doesn't fit the way it used to.
If the material at the seams or in the body is frayed.
If the lace is torn.
If you'd be really embarrassed if you were in an accident and had to go to the hospital in those things!

Stretch marks running up and down my bust

Q : I've just noticed these stretch marks running up and down my bust. What's going on?

A: Those stretch marks can be caused by not wearing a bra or wearing one with loose support. The bust tissue is breaking down and the bust is dangling - hence, the stretch marks. The remedy is to wear a well constructed, supportive bra. And note that even a smaller bust can get stretch marks if the right bra isn't worn.

I bulge over the top and sides of my bra

Q : I bulge over the top and sides of my bra. What's the solution?

A: First check to make sure you are in the right size. Either have a measurement taken or check the size or your bra. You may need a larger cup size. Or maybe you actually need a bra for fuller shapes in the size you are currently wearing.

Corset lacing

Most Corsetry is forwarded with laces threaded. If, for any reason you need to remove the lacing it can be a problem to re-thread. Below you will find an explanation and diagrams that you can print from your browser.

Shortening the laces
Most corset laces are long and allow a lot of adjustment. Each corset or cincher is threaded with one lace. That lace is tied at the base of the garment. If you want to reduce the length of that lace it is quite easy. Without untying the lace adjust the corset so that all excess lace hangs out the bottom two eyelets. Only then should you untie the knot. Cut the lace ends to your desired length and seal the lace ends by winding sticky tape around them. This will make any later re-threading easier to do.

Lingerie Wardrobe

Have a wardrobe of lingerie -- casual looks call for simple, comfy (often cotton) styles; sexier looks for lace, maybe even a thigh-high and garter belt. Have fun with it.

The Larger Bust

For larger-busted women, choose a full cup with underwire. Minimizers can help reduce the bustline, as well.

Fit is everything in a bra. Go to a good boutique or store and have an expert "fit" you. It may feel uncomfortable for a stranger to do this, but it's the best way to get a perfect fitting bra.
